Conference Specialist joins Mercure Ballarat as GM

16 June 2009

Accor Hotels has appointed Steven Savic as General Manager of Mercure Ballarat Hotel & Convention Centre.

In a career spanning 12 years with Accor Hotels specialising in food & beverage operations and management of large conference facilities, Steven’s background complements the core business focus of Mercure Ballarat, as Victoria’s major regional hotel and convention centre.

Steven’s management experience includes employment at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Novotel North Beach Wollongong and Novotel Cairns.  In each property he was called upon to improve food and beverage delivery and lift service levels in the conferencing areas.

An early initiative at Mercure Ballarat is to recruit a Food and Beverage Manager who will work alongside Steven and the hotel’s team to deliver food and beverage service to even higher standards.  This is part of a boarder plan within the management structure to give clients greater ease in their dealings with the hotel and enable hotel staff to be highly responsive to client requirements.

Mercure Meetings goes Carbon Neutral

Istvan Fekete - Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Mercure hotels across Australia have gone green on conferencing, with the hotel group being among the first to offer a national Carbon Neutral Conferencing product.

Under the Mercure Meetings initiative, Mercure hotels will fully fund offsets for carbon emissions produced during the conference. This means the offset cost of making a conference Carbon Neutral is covered by the hotel, not the conference group. This cost covers the greenhouse gases produced during the meeting and the offset is used to fund green-efficient energy sources at no extra cost to the conference group.
